Eyetracking the arts

For the past few years I have been making use of eye-tracking technology to plot the gaze of a person using a website in order to discover where the website could be improved. But I’m also a photographer, of course, and have been working out how to use my knowledge and equipment to find out how people look at photographs. Longer term I intend to expand this to look at the wider arts.

Analysis of the first short project I’ve carried out is underway and the first articles should be appearing soon. Honest.

For now, I’ve created a short trailer just to give you an idea of what I’ve been up to and the sort of output I’ve been able to work with. My most tremendous thanks to all the people who have sat staring at my laptop screen while photograph after photograph was presented to them in order to allow me to track their gaze.

All photography, music and video editing is by me.
